Sign in with your school account
With SURFconext you sign in with your school’s account. Your school switches LectaMe on once to make this possible.

Plain-language summary
- You sign in with one click, using the account you already have from school.
- You land straight in the right role: as a student or as a teacher.
- Each school’s data stays separate from that of other schools.
Connected schools
At these schools you can already sign in with your school account:
No school is connected yet. Would your school like to be the first? Send your IT department the message below.
Signing in via SURFconext is not open yet. You can simply sign in with your email address. Go to sign in
Don’t see your school in the SURFconext list? Then your school hasn’t switched on LectaMe yet.
Signing in with your email address and joining as a guest with a code always keep working. The school account is an extra convenience.
Your school isn’t listed?
Ask your school’s IT department or SURFconext contact to switch on LectaMe. Copy the message below and send it on. For them it is a small task.
Request: switch on LectaMe in SURFconext
For IT and SURFconext administrators
This information is meant to let you decide straight away. The same details are in our registration with SURF.
What needs to happen
In your institution’s SURFconext IdP Dashboard, switch on (or request) the connection with the service LectaMe. Your institution then appears in the SURFconext list when signing in to LectaMe. Next, LectaMe switches your institution on within LectaMe itself; we agree the role mapping with you first.
Service: LectaMe, offered by Lynt VOF (Chamber of Commerce 97241229). Connection: OpenID Connect, client ID lectame.com.
Requested attributes and why
- given_name and family_name — to show the name in class, on the board and in the portfolio. If they are missing everything still works; the user fills in a name.
- email — as a contact address. It is explicitly not a key: an existing account with the same address is never merged automatically. Linking is done by the user from their existing account.
- schac_home_organization — to establish which institution someone belongs to. This puts someone in their own school’s environment and keeps data separate per school. Without this attribute sign-in is refused.
- eduperson_affiliation — to decide whether someone enters as a student or as a teacher. It is input for the first setup, never a right on its own.
LectaMe deliberately does not request extra identifiers, student numbers, date of birth, address or phone number.
Role mapping per institution
What a value such as employee, staff, faculty or student means in LectaMe is configured per institution (default: student becomes student; employee, staff and faculty become teacher). A role LectaMe does not know never comes out, and an administrator role can never come from SURFconext: administration follows from an invitation.
Privacy and GDPR
- For data the school has processed through LectaMe, LectaMe is the processor and the school is the controller. A data processing agreement covers this.
- All data is stored in the European Union, including the encrypted backups.
- The identity is the combination of SURFconext and the personal identifier (sub), never the email address. Accounts are never merged automatically.
- Students can also take part without an account using a session code. On the pages where students take part we load no analytics services.
